Responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and residents. Implements business practices in accordance with facility mission and values. Contributes to account revenue and operating profit contribution through the implementation of services.
Position Requirement
Bachelor’s degree with Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics approved course work. • Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills. • Maintains registration CEUS (continuing education credits). • Knowledge of the MS Office Suite and other office equipment. • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.
Essential Functions
1. Directs dietary care of patients and residents with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment, and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
2. Educates medical staff and counsel patients/residents and their families on proper nutritional care.
3. Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to standards and policy. 4. Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets, and menu requests.
5. Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
6. Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate resources when necessary.
7. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well and procedures (e.g., HIPPA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
8. Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them to other departments.
9. Assists the Food Service Department in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing of the Dietary Department.
10. Serve on various committees of the facility as required by existing regulations or as appointed by Director / Administrator.
