Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Position : Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Location : Lynchburg, Virginia 24501

Healthcare Setting : Intermediate Care (CIMU) – Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Nursing Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Assignment Type : Travel Nursing Contract

Contract Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 1 / 26 / 2026 – End : 4 / 27 / 2026)

Start Dates : Every other Monday (next available : 1 / 26 / 2026)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown or intermediate care nursing

Prior travel nurse experience required

Active Virginia or Compact RN License (valid upon start)

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (current)

Complete work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days

Skills Checklist and copy of Nursys / license required at submission

Submit all requested time off with application

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients of varying acuity

Operate and manage clinical equipment : vital signs machines, glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, oxygen delivery devices

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a teaching hospital setting

Support students and new hires; float to other nursing units as needed

Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)

Promote a culture of learning and support within the cardiac stepdown unit
