Speech-Language Pathologist

• Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping prevent swallowing and communication disorders in our patients / residents. This role focuses on improving speech, language, and swallowing function, while providing compassionate support to residents and their families.

• Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate residents for swallowing, speech, and language difficulties.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address functional communication and swallowing needs.
• Teach residents techniques to improve speech clarity, voice quality, fluency, sentence structure, and vocabulary.
• Assist residents in strengthening muscles used for swallowing.
• Counsel residents and families on coping strategies and therapy goals.
• Document resident conditions, assessments, and care provided accurately and timely.
• Communicate empathetically with residents, families, and staff regarding changes in condition or therapy progress.
• Maintain safe work practices and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
• Required Qualifications
• Current and active state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Previous experience in healthcare, long-term care, or rehabilitation preferred.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support resident-centered care.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
