- Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping prevent swallowing and communication disorders in our patients / residents. This role focuses on improving speech, language, and swallowing function, while providing compassionate support to residents and their families.
- Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents for swallowing, speech, and language difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address functional communication and swallowing needs.
- Teach residents techniques to improve speech clarity, voice quality, fluency, sentence structure, and vocabulary.
- Assist residents in strengthening muscles used for swallowing.
- Counsel residents and families on coping strategies and therapy goals.
- Document resident conditions, assessments, and care provided accurately and timely.
- Communicate empathetically with residents, families, and staff regarding changes in condition or therapy progress.
- Maintain safe work practices and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Required Qualifications
- Current and active state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Previous experience in healthcare, long-term care, or rehabilitation preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support resident-centered care.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
