Logistics Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Maintain knowledge of all rules and regulations governing the movement of cargo.
• Monitor, track, and trend all logitics modes (airfreight, oceanfreight, LTL, FTL, small parcel, etc.) to service internal and external customers worldwide.
• Ensure shipping documentation is compliant for transport.
• Investigate and solve logistical issues encountered on a daily basis.
• Monitor weather and news events that may impact logistics operation.
• Collaborate with departments to deliver solutions while maintaining high levels of quality and service.
• Communicate with preferred carriers to effectively plan pickups and deliveries.
• Assist suppliers globally to achieve company objectives such as freight expediting, exception reporting, and changes involving critical time-sensitive pick-ups and / or deliveries.
• Audit SAP data to ensure quality and compliance.
• Maintain database of lost and damaged freight.
• Research and collect data to establish key metrics to create and implement best practice logistics KPIs, dashboards, policies and reports across the organization to improve operational and financial performance.
• Required to work flexible hours as needed by the department.

Education and Experience :

Knowledge and Skill Requirements / Specialized Courses and / or Training :

Machine, Tools, and / or Equipment Skills : PC

Proficient software skills : Word / Excel / Outlook / PowerPoint / database.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. Ability to calculate LTL freight density and effectively convert weights and measurements.

Language and Communication Skills :

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
