GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, will perform functions associated with the administration of the Public Works department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under direct supervision of the Public Works Director, applicant will be required to help with the management of the several divisions of the Public Works department, including the development and application of studies, editing and formatting of documents, and overall organization.

Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled and abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to deal with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner in all circumstances.

Perform other duties as assigned.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials and fumes (Sewage). May be required to enter a confined space. (Sewer or Storm Manhole) Often works in and around vehicular traffic. Working with contractors around heavy equipment. May at times include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and Experience: High School Graduate. Applicant shall be enrolled in a college or university working toward a Civil Engineering, Business or Public Administration degree.
• Ability to: work in all weather conditions; extreme heat or cold, wet, muddy and icy conditions.
• Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
