Department Summary

The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, exercise physiology and urban design.

The Department of Behavior Analysis (DBA) at the University of North Texas (UNT) is renowned for its pioneering role in the field of behavior analysis. The mission of the DBA is to provide a nationally recognized program of learning opportunities for graduate students, fostering the knowledge and skills that enable graduates to compete successfully and contribute significantly to society. Additionally, the department aims to advance the discipline of behavior analysis through applied and basic research that enhances the understanding of human behavior and leads to demonstrable positive behavior change.

The DBA is home to a distinguished faculty with expertise in theoretical, experimental, and applied behavior analysis. It houses several research labs where students can engage in cutting-edge research and practical training. The department offers a comprehensive range of degree programs, including a B.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, an M.S. in Behavior Analysis, and a Ph.D. in Health Science Research with a concentration in behavior analysis. The department was one of the first adopters of online education in behavior analysis and is proud of their world class online MA degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Position Overview

The Department of Behavior Analysis at the University of North Texas invites applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time, on-campus Lecturer position. The position will primarily carry teaching responsibilities in the online Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis program and will also fulfill additional teaching responsibilities in other departmental degree programs as needed. Primary responsibilities in the online program offer exciting possibilities for instructional design innovation as it relates to clinical and educational practice in applied behavior analysis. This is a 9-month appointment with the opportunity for summer teaching. The current appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal after the probationary period has ended.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis or a related discipline from an accredited institution; Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by Aug. 31, 2026.
• Experience with college teaching in at least one area of behavior analysis or related area.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
• Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D)

Preferred Qualifications

1. Demonstrated working knowledge of current pedagogical and instructional technologies that are adaptive to student needs;
2. Demonstrated knowledge in several areas of behavior analytic content, especially in autism;
3. Experience with college teaching in multiple modes of instruction, including in‐person, hybrid, online synchronous, and/or online asynchronous instruction;
4. Demonstrated commitment to promoting student success and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching through direct teaching and mentoring.
