Quality Assurance Manager (Food)

Must Haves:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
10+ years in the food industry, including 5+ years in a quality management role
Deep knowledge of FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI compliance
Certified Internal Auditor with hands-on auditing experience
Proven leadership in managing QA, Sanitation, and Food Safety teams
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience preparing for and leading regulatory and third-party audits
About the Role
We’re seeking a results-driven Quality Assurance Manager to lead all aspects of quality and food safety at our Mobile, AL manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance & Food Safety, this position ensures the highest standards of product quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance, while fostering a proactive culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all plant quality and food safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company standards.
Partner with plant leadership to promote accountability and engagement in QA and GMP programs.
Oversee daily lab, sanitation, and QA operations, ensuring testing accuracy and documentation integrity.
Manage internal and external audits, including GFSI, BRC, AIB, USDA, and FDA inspections.
Develop and implement HACCP and FSMA-based preventive control programs.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations or customer complaints.
Monitor performance metrics (MBOs, KPIs) and manage departmental budgets.
Lead and mentor QA and Sanitation teams to achieve high performance and continuous professional growth.
Maintain readiness for audits and inspections, ensuring compliance documentation is always up to date.
