Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Staff Smart Contract Engineer - this is a fully remote position for US based candidates.

We are building the next generation of DeFi trading powered by Hyperliquid. Our mission is to democratize access to global financial markets, leveraging the power of decentralized technologies. We are the the largest builder code product on Hyperliquid and have processed north of $50B in cumulative trading volume and hit 8 figures in revenue in the past year.

The Role

You will lead the design, implementation, and deployment of smart contracts on HyperEVM, building DeFi primitives and trading infrastructure that can scale to millions of traders and billions in daily volume.

What you will do

Own protocol development on HyperEVM : design, implement, and ship production-grade contracts powering positions, collateral, fee routing, and settlement flows.

Architect DeFi primitives end-to-end : staking / locking, liquidity & fee mechanisms, vaults, and risk controls (circuit breakers, caps, kill-switches, guardians) with explicit gas / latency budgets.

Engineer safe upgradeability : choose patterns (UUPS / transparent / beacon), write storage-layout tests, and preserve invariants through migrations and staged rollouts.

Harden security & correctness : model MEV / price manipulation threats; write invariants and fuzz tests (Foundry / Echidna); integrate static analysis (Slither); lead audit scope / response; own post-mortems.

Drive operational excellence : define on-chain SLOs, emit analytics-ready events, build monitors / alerts, and own incident response with rollback / patch runbooks.

What you bring

Bring deep EVM expertise with 5+ years shipping production Solidity (Yul / Huff a plus) and 8+ years overall engineering, with mastery of patterns like access control, upgradeability, proxies, Create2, and minimal clones.

Demonstrate strong DeFi systems intuition with hands-on experience across AMMs, staking / locking, stablecoin mechanics, liquidations, fee accounting, and oracle design under adversarial conditions.

Operate with pro-grade tooling—Foundry (forge / anvil / cast), Tenderly, Slither, Echidna / fuzzing, gas profiling, and storage-layout diffs—and comfort with viem / TypeScript for deployments and indexers.

Lead with a security mindset by anticipating failure modes (reentrancy, price manipulation, rounding / precision, griefing, approval abuse, cross-chain assumptions) and designing mitigations before they bite.

Maintain upgrade and migration discipline with a proven track record of stable storage layouts, robust migration scripts, and safe, multi-stage mainnet upgrades.

Show integration strength with oracles, signature standards (EIP-712, Permit2, 2612), account abstraction (ERC-4337), and bridging / cross-chain messaging—ideally including HyperEVM.

Exhibit data and ops literacy by designing analytics-ready events, building monitors and alerts, and treating on-chain releases with SRE rigor (runbooks, canaries, rollbacks).

Operate with high agency in low-process, high-trust, 0→1 environments.
