About the Position
The Cloud Engineer (Platform Engineering) will work under minimal supervision and be responsible for the day-to-day design, development and operations of CalOptima Health's cloud platform (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory and additional services) focusing on all the network aspects of the platform. The incumbent will be an experienced technical professional who has the capability to embrace and expand the existing cloud architecture. The incumbent will provide expertise as workloads are transitioned to the cloud while ensuring minimal business disruptions. The incumbent will be responsible for extensive coordination with respective internal support, engineering teams and various external partners and vendors on multiple projects and initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals / priorities for the department.
Designs, develops and deploys cloud-based systems and services in collaboration with Architects and in accordance with best practices and strategic direction.
Optimizes cloud infrastructure initiatives and assists other departments with moving their workloads to the cloud.
Coordinates medium-large size projects including but not limited to planning, developing, testing and implementing new projects.
Provides input on technical architecture and direction for the cloud environments.
Compiles and updates cloud reference architecture and provides support for Microsoft Azure, Office 365, SaaS, PaaS and IaaS Integrations and other cloud services.
Evaluates and provides insight on cloud technologies (modules, applications, hardware and new software).
Ensures efficient performance and utilization of cloud services (compute, storage and network).
Works closely with and advises Information Security on cloud vulnerabilities and threats by identifying, analyzing and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
Works closely with the Information Technology Services (ITS) Application team on service performance by migrating workloads to Microsoft Azure and automating tasks using Microsoft PowerShell, Python, etc.
Assists with configuration of network solutions.
Responds to updates and closes service desk tickets generated by internal business partners.
Works closely with the ITS team by reviewing legacy systems and provides recommendations for improvements.
Monitors network / system performance by identifying system and network events, security and environmental alarms.
Assists with the development, implementation and testing of data contingency / disaster recovery planning.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Experience & Education :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field required.
5 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 required.
5 years of experience working with Extreme Networks EXOS and XIO, VOS, EOS and Control in a wired and wireless environment required.
5 years of experience working with Palo Alto NGFW, virtual private network (VPN), software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), Cortex required.
5 years of experience working with F5 LTM required.
5 years of experience working with Cisco Ironport using secure emails required.
5 years of experience working with RSA, Yubikey, Azure Active Directory Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is required.
3 years of experience working with Zscaler, Pulse VPNs with emphasis on remote workforce required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above is also qualifying.
Preferred Qualifications :
Cloud-based certification (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
Network vendor certifications (Extreme, Palo Alto or F5).
Experience in a multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environment.
Experience with ITIL Foundations or relevant best-practice framework.
Physical Demands and Work Environment :

Physical demands : While performing duties of job, employee may be required to move about the organization. Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, as well as work at the computer for long periods. Employee is required to use hands and fingers, especially for typing on the computer and using the mouse. Must also be able to reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift office supply boxes or laptop case, up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate, particularly for regular phone use, in meetings, face-to-face interaction and while presenting.
Work Environment : Employee will work in the computer room from time-to-time where the PBX system and servers are maintained and serviced. Noise levels from server fans may exceed 90 dB and room temperatures average 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Extended stays may require ear protection from the noise and a sweater / jacket to keep warm.
