OPERATIONS MANAGER

REQUIREMENTS :

Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Leadership / operations management experience with a proven track record of success.

Fundamental understanding and working experience operating in a facility under the OHSA Process Safety Management (PSM) program and Risk Management Program for Hazardous Chemicals.

Experience in capital management.

Experience with “Lean Six Sigma” tools and methods.

Excellent understanding of chemical processing and material handling equipment.

Prior experience required and demonstrated success in leading an operations and / or production department.

Must possess effective, strong communications and analytical skills, be persuasive and have good general management instincts.

Experience managing in a union environment is a plus.

Strong employee relations skills, including coaching and communication and demonstrated ability to train and mentor department employees.

Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and meet deadlines.

Experience with Management of Change processes including P&ID and documentation updates.

Must be people oriented and possess good insight into people.

Prior experience with ISO9000, RC14000, Standard Work, TPM.

Effective risk manager; knowing when to escalate, defining risk mitigation plans and know when to invoke them.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :

Experience with SAP or similar ERP database management systems.

Process control experience.

Quality control experience.

Experience in chemical and / or adhesive reactions and processing, blending and formulating including high pressure polymerizations and high temperature operations.

Six Sigma certification, (Green or Black Belt), experience in design for Six Sigma DFSS.

Exposure to applications using continuous improvement techniques; TQM, Problem Solving DMAIC, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA’s, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Value Stream mapping, etc.

Statistical Process Control experience with proven results implementing and managing batch and semi-continuous manufacturing systems.

Knowledge, experience and demonstrated results improving process capability, monitored and controlled via a Capability Index.

Prior experience with adhesives.
