Virtual Product Engineer

Are you passionate about digital innovation and data-driven engineering? As a Senior Virtual Product Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of Goodyear’s Virtual Tire Development (VTD) process—leveraging cutting-edge tools and analytics to shape the future of consumer tire design.

You’ll serve as a technical expert and coach, guiding cross-functional teams through the VTD methodology and driving continuous improvement in virtual design capabilities. This is a high-impact role where your insights and leadership will directly influence product performance and development efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Virtual Tire Development Projects: Apply VTD tools and strategies to develop tires that meet or exceedcustomer expectationsand performance targets.
• Translate Customer Needs: Collaborate to define tire characteristic target zones using performance quantification techniques.
• Champion Data-Driven Design: Use advanced machine learning and FEA tools to extract insights and support decision-making.
• Coach & Educate: Promote VTD methodology across teams, providing training and technical support.
• Drive Innovation: Identify capability gaps and lead initiatives to enhance tools and processes.
• Improve Efficiency: Document lessons learned, escalate technical challenges, and prioritize improvements.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineeringor related field (Master’spreferred).

6+ years of relevant experience in product development or engineering.

Technical Skills:

• Structural FEA,CFDor heat transfer analysis.

• Computer Science (e.g.machine learning, data architecture, data management, programming, “big data” technologies).

• Data Analysis skills such aswriting SQL queries in AWS, Visualizations with Tableau and data analysisin JMP

• Proficient knowledge and usage of programming languages such as Python, C,C++and Fortran.

• Expertisein CAD for complex geometries.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in solving engineering problems.

• Familiarity with product development cycles and experimental design.
