American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac ICU / Stepdown position requiring a CT or compact RN license, with cardiac surgery and trauma center experience.

Job Details

  • Work in a short-term acute care hospital in a hybrid cardiac ICU / stepdown unit,
  • Unit includes 8 cardiac ICU beds and 6 cardiac stepdown beds,
  • Majority of ICU patients are pre- and post-op cardiothoracic surgery, with some advanced heart failure cases,
  • Stepdown unit cares for CT surgery, peripheral vascular, and heart failure patients,
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3,
  • Nursing assignments may vary daily between ICU and stepdown,
  • Floating to stepdown and other units as needed within scope,
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19 : 00-07 : 00),
  • Every other weekend coverage required,
  • No on-call required,
  • Epic charting system is used,

Job Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required; pending license considered if active before start,
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac ICU or ICU / stepdown nursing experience required,
  • Trauma center experience at a large facility required,
  • Must be comfortable with high volume cardiac (HVC) cases,
  • No prior disciplinary actions on nursing license considered,
  • Flu vaccine required; no declinations accepted,
  • COVID-19 vaccine and booster required unless valid religious or medical exemption,

    • Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position,
  • Royal blue scrubs are required,
  • Return permanent staff must have a minimum two-year separation to be considered as a traveler,
  • A 75-mile radius rule applies; local candidates are not eligible for travel positions,
  • Parking is available at a cost of $125 per month,
  • RTO (Requested Time Off) of up to 7 days is auto-approved; more than 7 days requires facility approval,
  • Facility is a Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center,
  • Team members are expected to participate in emergency and disaster response activities,
