Role : Java Developer / Architect (USC, GC Only)

Location : NY, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle (Hybrid)

Overview :

Our client, a leading publicly traded electronic payments company, is undertaking a major modernization initiative and is seeking Java Architects and Senior Java Developers to drive design, development, and scaling of next-generation

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop scalable, secure Java-based BNPL applications and services.
  • Design high-availability payment systems leveraging microservices and event-driven architecture.
  • Build integrations with internal payment platforms, credit decisioning engines, and merchant APIs.
  • Optimize system performance, latency, throughput, and transaction integrity.
  • Lead cloud-native development (AWS, GCP, or Azure depending on site).
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and sprint planning.
  • Mentor developers and ensure coding standards, CI / CD, testing, and security compliance.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of Java backend development; 3+ years in modern microservices architecture.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, REST APIs, distributed systems.
  • Payments, BNPL, credit underwriting, or financial services experience strongly preferred.
  • Cloud experience (AWS / Azure / GCP) with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of PCI compliance, encryption, and secure coding.
  • Hands-on experience building large-scale, high-volume transactional systems.

  • Experience integrating with merchant systems or payment gateways.
  • Experience with fintech, lending, BNPL, or installment billing platforms.
  • Prior work in enterprise environments with global distributed teams.
