Transportation Manager
Join our dynamic team as we oversee materials handling and product distribution within a thriving distribution or manufacturing environment. Your expertise will drive the efficiency of warehousing and fulfillment processes, manage transportation logistics, and influence inventory management, as well as demand, supply, and manufacturing planning.
This role encompasses the critical movement of materials and products among suppliers, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and customers. You will be in charge of managing transportation assets and systems to achieve superior service, cost efficiency, and process optimization.
This position is based on-site 5 days a week at our Peabody, MA Pharmaceutical Distribution Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transportation operations for the Greensboro, NC distribution center and other eastern locations.
- Empower the operations team by providing training and supporting Corporate and Regional strategic initiatives during their implementation.
- Monitor and manage delivery metrics (including key performance indicators and monthly Profit and Loss Statement trends) and delivery costs on a monthly basis.
- Compile and submit regular and ad-hoc reports regarding delivery metrics.
- Preempt challenges and implement effective solutions utilizing Operational Excellence tools and methodologies across the transportation network.
- Identify improvement opportunities through Gemba walks and actively participate in Kaizen events.
- Collaborate with the Region Transportation Manager and corporate Transportation Center of Excellence regarding proposals, rate adjustments, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Facilitate quarterly business review meetings with couriers focusing on metrics, initiatives, compliance, and ensuring a reliable supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory processes while mitigating risks.
- Conduct annual audits of courier hubs to ensure compliance with established expectations.
- Address escalated delivery issues with ongoing communication and effective resolutions.
- Maintain data integrity relating to Distract, Total Logistics Management (TLM), and delivery windows database.
- Collaborate with the Region Transportation Manager, Corporate Regulatory, and Global Security on incidents of theft and control substance shortages.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.3-5+ years of supervisory leadership experience is preferred.4+ years of logistics or transportation operations experience is preferred.Experience with parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), and truckload transportation modes is preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.Ability to travel up to 30-40% is required.About You
