About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Auto Electrician with hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting 12V electrical systems for specialty vehicle upfits , including food trucks, command centers, mobile medical units, and RV-style custom builds.
This person must be detail-oriented, reliable, and confident working on complex custom wiring , diagnostics, and equipment integration.
Key Responsibilities
12V Electrical Installation & Troubleshooting
Install and service emergency lighting systems , including Whelen lightbars, beacons, sirens, flashers, and control modules.
Install, wire, and troubleshoot battery banks , including :
Inverters (Victron, Xantrex, etc.)
Charger / conditioner systems
Battery isolators and disconnects
Integrate and diagnose alternator charging systems , including MEPS under-hood generators .
Install and configure leveling systems for trailers or RV-based units.
Install and wire RV awnings (powered or manual), including switch controls and motorized modules.
General Electrical Work
Perform full 12V / 24V wiring, routing, termination, and load calculation for custom vehicle builds.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
Troubleshoot electrical faults, shorts, grounding issues, and component failures.
Ensure all installations meet safety codes and internal quality standards.
Work closely with fabrication and mechanical teams to integrate electrical systems into the build process.
Preferred Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience as an Auto Electrician , Emergency Vehicle Upfitter , RV Technician , or Specialty Vehicle Electrician .
Strong knowledge of 12V DC systems, power distribution, fuses, relays, and load management.
Experience with :
Emergency lighting systems ( Whelen, Federal Signal, Code 3 )
Battery banks (AGM, Lithium)
Power inverters & chargers
MEPS or similar alternator-based generator systems
RV components (leveling systems, awnings, HVAC wiring)
Ability to diagnose systems with multimeters, test lights, and specialty diagnostic tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Skills (Not Required but a Plus)
Experience in food truck, command center, ambulance, or mobile medical builds.
Knowledge of NFPA 1917, RVIA standards, or emergency vehicle guidelines.
Fabrication or mechanical skills.
