Position Description :
We are seeking a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager to lead high-visibility technology projects that directly impact public services. In this role, you will manage initiatives that modernize and enhance the State’s IT systems, ensuring compliance with government standards, and alignment with agency missions. You will partner with the central ePMO, business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors to deliver projects on time, within scope, and with measurable value.
This position is located in Lafayette, LA in a hybrid work environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities :
- Direct end-to-end project management for mid to large-scale state agency IT initiatives (e.g., system modernization, cloud adoption, cybersecurity, citizen services platforms).
- Be a champion for centralized ePMO standards, processes, and methods across agencies
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, risk registers, and progress reports for agency leadership and oversight committees.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state IT governance, regulations, and security / privacy requirements.
- Coordinate across multiple stakeholders including state executives, agency directors, program managers, vendors, and contractors.
- Manage SLAs, and performance to ensure accountability and delivery of value.
- Monitor and communicate project risks, issues, and dependencies to leadership and oversight bodies.
- Apply project management best practices tailored for public-sector initiatives, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
- Support knowledge transfer, documentation, and sustainability planning to ensure long-term success beyond project closeout.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role :
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Public Administration, Business, or related field.7+ years of IT project management experienceDemonstrated success managing multimillion-dollar IT programs with multiple stakeholders and compliance requirements.Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief executive leadershipPreferred, but not required
At least 3 years managing complex public-sector or government-related projects.Strong knowledge of government procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance.PMP, PMI-ACP, or SAFe certificationExperience collaborating with legislative bodies, auditors, and federal oversight agencies is a plus.Experience with MS Project EnterpriseCGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
