[job_card.job_description]Minimum of 2 years of experience in Stepdown Neuro or PCU nursing required. Specific Neuro experience is required, with a strong understanding of NIHSS protocols. Preferred prior charge experience. Experience with a patient ratio of 1 : 4. Ability to float to different units as needed. Expected daily census of 29 patients in a 29-bed unit. Patient demographic : Adults and Geriatrics. IV therapy and phlebotomy, with experience managing ports and arterial lines preferred. Knowledge of the following neuro-specific conditions and procedures : \n \n Craniotomy CVA (Cerebrovascular Accidents) Intracranial bleeds Lumbar drains Pre / Post neurosurgery care Seizure disorders Spinal cord injuries Traumatic Brain Injury Experience in respiratory management, including CPAP / BIPAP. IV insulin protocols and management of cardiac drips, including titration. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) BLS (Basic Life Support) NIHSS Certification (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) 24 hours of orientation will be provided. Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Participation in isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring is expected. EVD monitoring experience is required (hard stop).
