Job Description
Primary Function of Position
As a Field Service Engineer 2, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team responsible for installation, support, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all our products within your designated area of responsibility. Your focus will be securing service agreements and warranty obligations, consistently exceeding customer expectations. The role demands intensive expertise in electro‑mechanical systems, exceptional customer service, and excellent communication skills.
Second Shift FSEs operate Monday through Friday, typically between 2 : 00 p.m. and 11 : 00 p.m., supporting late‑day procedures and after‑hours requests.
Essential Job Duties
- Understand and comply with all department and company policies.
- Provide management with quarterly reviews and assessments of your assigned area.
- Accurately document service activities, maintain records, and produce comprehensive reports.
- Complete all administrative tasks within the required timeframe.
- Offer technical support to end‑users and Intuitive employees.
- Conduct training sessions at Intuitive facilities, training centers, and hospitals.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, including system inspections, preventive maintenance, software updates, recalls, field actions, and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Intuitive products and related equipment per procedures and within timeframes.
- Coordinate deliveries and installations of systems and hardware.
- Apply O.R. protocol knowledge and adhere to HIPAA standards.
- Manage administrative duties such as spare parts inventory, field activity reports, RMAs, expense reports, and other specified tasks.
- Maintain Intuitive‑provided items, including tools, calibrated tool sets, company vehicles, laptops, iPads, and other assets.
- Collaborate with Intuitive teams to facilitate company goals—e.g., provide trade‑show support to Sales teams, supply sterile reprocessing training to Genesis teams, and share hospital contacts with other teams.
- Contribute feedback to headquarters and participate in continuous improvement projects as needed.
- Complete all required or assigned training, including equipment training, Intuitive Surgical University classes, and professional development courses.
- Oversee all aspects of your assigned area, including customer needs response, system install‑base configuration, customer contact management, and support for training and events.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.Problem‑solving, analytical skills, and efficient technical issue resolution.Strong time‑management, prioritization, and multi‑tasking abilities with attention to detail.Willingness to travel up to 75% and accept ad‑hoc tasks assigned by management.Reside within a reasonable distance (typically 30 miles) of the assigned territory.Ability to work flex or second shift as required.Display individual characteristics expected of Intuitive personnel (character, capacity, energy, experience).Working Conditions
Lift up to 75 lbs. and move wheeled objects up to 1,200 lbs.Maintain a clean driving record.Obtain and maintain Vendor Credentialing approval for operating‑room access.Comply with all necessary vaccination requirements mandated by vendor credentialing.Preferred Skills And Experience
1–3 years of Field Service Experience.Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent training / experience.Proven track record of troubleshooting electro‑mechanical systems.Good written and oral communication skills.General computer proficiency.Comfortable working off hours with limited support.Excellent administrative and record‑keeping skills.Additional Information
