Position Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical First Assistant to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will work directly with surgeons to provide hands-on support before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of operative care.

Key Responsibilities :

Assist the surgeon during operative procedures, including tissue handling, exposure, suctioning, and suturing

Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare the operating room, including sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is available

Provide hemostasis through clamping, ligating, or cauterizing vessels

Close incisions using sutures, staples, or adhesives under direction of the surgeon

Monitor patient condition and respond to any changes in the surgical environment

Uphold strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control standards

Document surgical activities and assist in patient care pre- and post-operatively as needed

Qualifications :

Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assistant program

Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), or equivalent

Current BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical environment preferred

Strong knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic techniques

Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
