As a Patient Transfer Assistant, you will play a vital role in safely and efficiently transporting patients between clinical, ancillary, and support areas using wheelchairs, beds, or stretchers. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a warm, supportive approach to patient interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport patients with various medical equipment, including oxygen tanks and intravenous pumps, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a secure and healthy work environment by following established policies, federal and state regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Utilize proper lifting and transferring techniques and equipment to prevent injury.
- Provide emotional support and cultural sensitivity to patients and their families during transport.
- Document all patient transports accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding transport completion and job tasks.
- Clean and sanitize transport equipment regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
Some patient care experience is preferred but not required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel is beneficial.
Requirements
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.Ability to concentrate visually and mentally for extended periods.Capability to work under stressful conditions and manage physical demands including standing, walking, lifting up to 35 lbs, pushing, pulling, and bending.Comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, and other challenging conditions.
