About the Position

LocumJobsNetwork is working with Wellhart, LLC to find a qualified Cardiothoracic Surgery MD in Syracuse, New York, 13203!

We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins on Feb 1, 2026, for a 75-day contract, offering Monday through Friday day shifts from 7am to 5pm. The surgeon will focus on hospital-based cardiac surgery, primarily in the operating room, with some ICU and floor coverage.

  • Provider Type Needed : Cardiothoracic Surgeon
  • Schedule : Monday to Friday, 7 : 00am – 5 : 00pm; call varies (1-2 evenings per week, operating call from home; call ratio 1 / week)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform first assist in cardiac surgical procedures
  • Harvest veins and retrieve vascular tissues for bypass conduits
  • Insert chest tubes as needed
  • Provide perioperative care in the operating room, with additional ICU and floor coverage
  • Participate in call rotation as scheduled
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence

  • NCCPA required
  • Active New York State license required
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Board certification in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery required
  • Must have cardiac surgery operating experience including first assist and vein harvest
  • Robotic surgery experience is a plus
