Social Studies Teacher, Grades 7-9

Required : Certificate for Teaching US History / Social Studies

To create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate students to acquire knowledge skills and attitudes that society feels will contribute to their development into mature able and responsible men and women in accordance with each students ability and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Performance Responsibilities :

1. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location at the times designated using the curriculum guides developed by the faculty and approved by the Board

2. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students

3. Develop daily lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil

4. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction

5. Evaluate pupils academic and social growth keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK AND HAVE A LETTER PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL FROM THE CABINET FOR HEALTH AND FAMILY SERVICES STATING THE EMPLOYEE IS CLEAR TO HIRE BASED ON NO FINDINGS OF SUBSTANTIATED CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT FOUND THROUGH A BACKGROUND CHECK OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT RECORDS MAINTAINED BY THE CABINET FOR HEALTH AND FAMILY SERVICES AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
