Senior Buyer
Leidos is seeking a Senior Buyer to support our Huntsville, Alabama facility. The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of various components, machines, and equipment. Telework option will be considered. Primary responsibilities include the development and negotiation of favorable prices on higher complexity procurements, purchase order administration / file maintenance, closeout for all procurement related activities, and supplier customer management. The role also involves creating solicitations, supporting proposals, conducting price and cost analysis, negotiating price / cost and price / cost-related terms, and procuring higher complexity and risk. The Senior Buyer confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals and selects or recommends suppliers based on gathered information. Recommends improvements to procurement processes and procedures. Completes larger procurements independently. Requires ability to collaborate cross-functionally regarding policies, practices, and procedures. Supports and reviews the work of other buyers and assists the team as needed. Develops or reviews prime contract flowdown documents to ensure compliance with prime contract requirements and to minimize company liability. Supports internal / external audit activities, including Purchase Order file reviews, as well as data request from internal / external customers. Supports peer reviews and mentoring of other Buyers.
Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's degree coupled with 4-8 years of relevant experience; OR a master's degree with 2-6 years of experience; OR a HS Diploma coupled with 8+ years of relevant experience. Prior experience buying tangible goods is required. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is necessary. Strong oral and written communication skills, a strong customer service mentality, ability to multi-task, and strong organizational skills are required. Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations is required. Knowledge in government contracts is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities is required. Must have the interpersonal skills to work effectively with others within the team and collaborate cross-functionally.
Preferred qualifications include Costpoint experience, terms and conditions negotiation experience, and knowledge of build to print, fabricated parts, and components. Perspective Senior Buyers should have a working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and agency specific supplements such as the DFARS.
