Diesel Mechanic Maintenance

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic on 2nd shift at our Russellville, KY, manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the inspecting, repairing and preventive maintenance of both gasoline and diesel vehicles of Carpenter Co. Assures that all vehicles are available to meet the established shipping schedule to transport finished products to our customers.

• Service and repair all tractors, vehicles, and trailers within the Department of Transportation and Carpenter Co. guidelines, rules, and regulations.
• Perform diagnostic tests with computers and other testing equipment.
• Coordinate the repair and maintenance of fleet equipment through a daily repair schedule.
• Complete and maintain all documentation properly in accordance with Company and Department of Transportation Policy.
• Be knowledgeable in and follow all Carpenter Co. safety rules and regulations.
• Assures that the Value of Order in the garage is an everyday standard of practice.
• Must maintain a current CDL.
• Must possess the knowledge and ability to repair a diesel or gasoline engine and the powertrain.
• Reports all major mechanical failures that could affect the operation of the Traffic Department.

Your additional responsibilities will include:

• Pick up trash and other discarded items.
• Attend all required departmental meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Requirements

• 2-4 years of mechanical experience
• Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills.
• Ability to accurately measure with a tape measure.
• Must be D.O.T. certified in repair areas.
• Must maintain a current CDL.
• Reliable - able to work flexible hours and overtime.

2nd shift employees receive a $.50/hour shift differential for working 2nd shift hours.
