Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this part-time position. Qualified candidates will possess excellent communication and computer skills, demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to take risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth. Duties Essential Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students in theories, methods and tasks.
Ability to effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas.
Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs.
Strong public speaking and oral presentation skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Advanced technology skills to track student attendance and grades and present creative lessons.
Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all ages.
Select materials / resources to meet the instructional and learning needs of the individual student.
Be skilled in the use of all materials and equipment in the Family Learning Lab.
Recommend the type and quality of material and equipment needed for instructional / tutorial purposes.
Maintain accurate referral, registration, and attendance records, grade tests and evaluate student’s progress.
Be skilled in filing and retrieving student information electronically and through other sources.
Maintain proper, scheduled work hours.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Secondary Education with a specialization in English, Mathematics, Science or a related field with five years teaching experience in grades 6-12 in content areas of English, Mathematics or Science.
Ability to work at the Family Learning Center during the hours of operation, which are open between the hours of 3pm and 8pm on Tuesday-Thursday.
Ability to develop and implement age appropriate curriculum in a tutoring setting.
Ability to work well with diverse student and faculty populations in a variety of disciplines, as well as the ability to build effective and professional relationships with families and students.
Ability to physically handle frequent sitting, standing, and bending for different periods of time.
Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Secondary Education with a specialization in English, Mathematics, Science or a related field
Current North Carolina Teacher’s License with 5 years of experience in the school system or retired teacher (within 5 years of retirement).
Teacher credentials or certificate.
