CNC Operator

Job Description

This is a Union role and must join the union after 90 day probationary period. This is a full-time position.

SUMMARY OF POSITION : Learn to assist in set-up of simple jobs and operation of CNC and Grinding equipment, tooling maintenance, and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards. Learn to operate CMM.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Learn set-ups of simple (uncomplicated and straightforward) jobs and operate conventional, special-purpose, and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts and fits and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials, and layout techniques. Able to run multiple machines at one time.
• Review and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
• Learn to select, align, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and tooling pre-setter.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
• Learn to measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Learn to fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
• Learn to verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
• Learn to check for machine readiness to ensure functionality and performance.
• Complete essential documentation, as required.
• Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
• Maintain a well-organized clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
• Perform and document Operator Preventative Maintenance operations, as needed.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES :

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION : High School Graduate or equivalent. Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

SKILLS : Works under direct supervision. Problem-solving skills preferred. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly. Ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of GD&T. Ability to be a team player.

Salary Minimum : $50,000

Salary Maximum : $55,000
