Job Details

  • The Cancer Center RN provides patient-centered care in the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital including chemotherapy administration, patient education, care planning, symptom management, and coordination of outpatient services.
  • Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care addressing complex care issues of Cancer Center patients and their caregivers.
  • Practices according to ANA and ONS standards of care.
  • Reports to the Clinical Nursing Manager, Cancer Center and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

    • Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • For candidates without a BSN, 1 to 2 years of experience in ambulatory oncology required.
  • Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) required after 2 years of hire or after reaching 2,000 hours of oncology nursing practice.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to practice independently and as a team member required.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and family members required.

    • Additional Details

  • MGB Badge Photo required for onboarding : color photo taken in past 6 months with plain background, no selfies or filters.
  • License / Certificate Verification required within 30 days of start date and updated upon expiration; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted.
  • Fit Test (N95) required within 365 days to start date and updated annually; no onsite fit testing available at most locations.
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity required.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30) with no exemptions.
  • TB test documentation required within 3 months of start date and updated if >

    • 6 month break.

  • Health Statement signed by MD / DO / NP / PA required within 365 days of start date and updated if >

    • 6 month break.

  • MGB Criminal Background Check within 45 days prior to start date and updated if >

    • 6 month break.

  • MGB Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date and updated if >

    • 6 month break.

  • MGB Resume including past 7 years of work experience required for submission.
  • MGB Skills Checklist required for submission.
  • MGB Confirmation of Assignment / POI Form required for all initial assignments and extensions.
  • Additional health and professional verifications and clearances required as per MGB policies.
