Position Summary
Designs and delivers instruction in undergraduate Biology lecture and laboratory courses offered by the School. Advises students, and participates in all department, various school, and University-wide committees and activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivers instruction for both lecture and laboratory for undergraduate courses that include Evolution and Ecology (BIO 2424), Biostatistics (BIO 2320), Conservation Biology (BIO 3470), and two team-taught research courses (BIO 3352 and BIO 4351), as well as a general education science course when needed. – Daily 60%
- Adheres to the established class schedule and office hours on a daily basis. Submits textbook requests, syllabi, grades, assessments, and reports in a timely manner. – Daily 20%
- Remains knowledgeable of current research in the discipline by participating in conferences, publishing, and maintaining collaborative research relationships. – Monthly 5%
- Participates in curriculum and program development. – Monthly 5%
- Advises students for successful degree completion and pursuit of post baccalaureate training opportunities. – Monthly 5%
- Participates in departmental, school, and university meetings and academic activities. – Monthly 5%
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair. – As needed
Education, Certifications and / or Licenses Doctorate (Ph.D) or equivalent degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. Experience
Demonstrated potential for strong teaching and quality research required.Experience administering and teaching required courses, including lecture and laboratory, for Biology degree.Experience in college-level teaching using active learning techniques and best practices in classroom content deliveryHas experience in assessment of learning outcomesWillingness to deliver required content.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge
