Job Summary

The Public Safety Sergeant provides supervision of shift including responsibility for assigning and coordinating Officer duties evaluation of daily patrol activity and reports productivity reports special events conflict resolution emergency response and law enforcement coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

• Some college credits completed (minimum of 60 credits from an accredited institution or 30 credits with an honorable military discharge)
• Relevant law enforcement supervisory experience may substitute for part of the education requirement
• At least four years of experience in safety and / or law enforcement
• Must possess and maintain a valid New York State drivers license
• Must be available for flexible shift scheduling

Relevant combinations of education training and experience may be considered.

Public Safety : Positions may include day evening overnight weekend and holiday assignments based on departmental needs.

Local travel between campus locations only

Driving

Driving a Rensselaer vehicle for non-passenger use

Starting Salary / Rate

Expected hiring range : $26.00

Pay transparency disclosure : The selected candidates salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget internal equity and the final candidates qualifications experience education and other job-related credentials.
