Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department night shift position requiring an active IL license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within an acute care hospitalHandles a diverse patient population, including all ages from newborns to the elderly with a wide variety of complaints, from minor to critically ill, including cardiac arrests, strokes, and heart attacksUnit has 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 3-5 depending on acuity and department needCommon procedures include administration and titration of vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive dripsUses Epic for charting; orientation providedNight shifts are 12 hours (7p-7a), with a rotation requirement for every other weekend and some holiday coverage as neededFloating is rare and, if required, is as a 'help all' with no patient team assignmentNo on-call requirement for travelersResponsibilities include caring for a wide range of emergency and trauma cases after primary trauma resuscitationSupport provided by two charge nurses per shift, dedicated ED techs, and 24 / 7 house supervisorMandatory 12-hour orientation is provided before assuming full responsibilitiesTravelers may request block scheduling or specific days off, subject to departmental approvalNo specific scrub color required; solid colored shirts under tasteful scrubs are appropriateCOVID-19 vaccination is not required for this positionLocal candidates accepted, with a local rate applying to those within 50 milesRequirements
Active IL RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent ED experience requiredCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNS are mandatoryProficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and using Phillips monitors is expectedExperience titrating multiple IV drips including vasopressors is necessaryPrior travel assignment and working in a teaching hospital strongly preferredMust pass a comprehensive drug screenBenefits
