Position Overview : The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted partner to employees and leadership, supporting the daily HR operations for a growing, collaborative organization. This is a highly visible, hands-on role responsible for delivering a positive employee experience while strengthening foundational HR processes across onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and HR systems.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing order to complex environments, building processes that make work easier for others, and serving as a supportive resource to employees at all levels. Working closely with the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist will play an important role in shaping and sustaining organizational culture, supporting employee engagement initiatives, and helping the organization scale effectively as it continues to grow.

Work Location : This position is based in the DMV region and requires regular on-site attendance Tuesday–Thursday at the Arlington, VA office. Remote or hybrid exceptions are not available.
Key Areas of Responsibility :
HR Operations and Employee Support
- Serve as the primary first point of contact for employee HR questions related to benefits, policies, leave, and general workplace matters
- Support employee relations matters and escalate as appropriate
- Maintain accurate, organized employee records and documentation
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
Onboarding, Offboarding and Employee Lifecycle
Coordinate and administer onboarding and offboarding processesPrepare employee documentation, system access coordination, and lifecycle recordsEnsure a consistent, compliant employee experience across all stages of employmentHR Infrastructure, Process Improvement and Documentation
Support the cleanup, organization, and maintenance of HR files, systems, and documentationAssist with updates to the employee handbook, HR policies, and internal SOPsContribute to process improvements that strengthen efficiency, consistency, and scalabilitySupport organizational documentation such as org charts and internal HR workflowsRecruiting, Hiring and Administrative Support
Coordinate interview scheduling across multiple stakeholdersConduct reference checks, background checks, and hiring documentationSupport offer letters, promotion letters, and employee correspondenceMaintain ATS records, candidate tracking, and dispositioningHR Systems Support
Partner with payroll and benefits administrators on employee updates and changesSupport the evolution and optimization of internal operations and HR infrastructureMaintain HRIS employee data and recordsCulture and Leadership Support
Support employee engagement initiatives, internal events, and culture programsAssist with performance review cycles and employee communicationsPartner closely with HR leadership while taking initiative on tasks and prioritiesRequirements
Experience & Education :
3–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similarly broad HR roleDemonstrated hands-on experience supporting core HR functionsExperience working in small to mid-size organizations preferredExperience supporting multi-state employee populations a plusHR certification (SHRM, PHR) preferred, not requiredBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferredSkills :
