Job Summary
The Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing all commercial flooring installation projects, managing a diverse field and warehouse team, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role serves as the central point of coordination between project supervisors, installation crews, warehouse operations, and internal stakeholders. The Installation Manager must be highly organized, budget-conscious, and comfortable leading both people and processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, supervise, and support a team of Senior Flooring Mechanics, Junior Mechanics, Apprentices, Helpers, and Delivery Associates.
Train and mentor team members on installation best practices, safety requirements, and company standards.
Monitor performance, productivity, and workmanship, providing ongoing coaching and corrective feedback as needed.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
2. Project Management & Scheduling
Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of installation projects from kickoff through closeout.
Review new projects in Monday.com and assign supervisors and crews based on scope, complexity, and timelines.
Coordinate with project supervisors and internal teams to ensure proper staffing, sequencing, and resource allocation.
Price and estimate labor for large-scale or complex projects, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
3. Warehouse & Logistics Management
Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, staging, storage, and distribution of materials.
Ensure accurate inventory tracking and proper handling of flooring materials, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate with suppliers on material orders and deliveries, verifying quality and completeness upon receipt.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant warehouse environment.
4. Quality Assurance
Conduct regular field inspections to ensure installations meet company standards and customer expectations.
Proactively identify and resolve installation issues or deficiencies.
Document quality checks, corrective actions, and project progress.
5. Safety & Compliance
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards across job sites and warehouse operations.
Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices at all times.
Conduct safety meetings and trainings; maintain records of incidents and compliance.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely completion of all project documentation, including schedules, labor estimates, and progress reports.
Utilize systems such as Monday.com and ExakTime to track project status, labor hours, and productivity.
Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
7. Resource & Cost Management
Manage tools, equipment, and material inventories to support field operations efficiently.
Oversee maintenance, storage, and replacement of tools and equipment.
Maintain a strong focus on budget adherence, labor efficiency, and waste reduction.
Qualifications & Requirements
Proven experience managing commercial flooring installation teams and projects.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage field crews and warehouse operations.
Solid understanding of installation methods, job sequencing, and commercial construction environments.
Budget-conscious mindset with experience estimating and controlling labor costs.
Proficiency with project management and time-tracking systems (Monday.com, ExakTime or similar).
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
Forklift certification required (or ability to obtain promptly).
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
