Looking for a Senior PostgreSQL Administrator manages, maintains, and optimizes PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing database schemas, managing backups and replication, tuning database performance, supporting developers with complex queries, and implementing disaster recovery and high availability solutions. Senior roles also involve scripting for automation, working, and participating in / on-call rotations for incident support and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze, tune, and optimize database performance, including query analysis, indexing, and partitioning strategies.

Perform regular maintenance, such as backups, restores, upgrades, and patching, to ensure database health and security.

Design, implement, and manage HA / DR solutions to ensure continuous operation and data recoverability. Experience with Repmgr, HA Proxy is preferred.

Design and implement database schemas, partitioning, and indexing strategies for efficient data management.

Monitor and manage database security, responding to security alerts and ensuring data integrity.

Develop and maintain scripts and tools (, using Python, PowerShell, Ansible) to automate routine tasks and processes.

Database experience consists of creating table space areas, tables and views, logical and physical database design. Knowledge about monitoring and performance improvements. Knowledge of database maintenance procedures. Knowledge with clustering and high availability technology solutions. Knowledge of interface with Client / Server and Java programming languages, most commonly Visual Basic. Proficient in the internals of a large-scale client / server operating system. Experienced in the set-up and maintenance of one or more of the following database systems in a client / server operating systems environment : UDB, Oracle, Progress, SQL Server, or Access. Database experience consists of creating table space areas, tables and views, logical and physical database design. Knowledge of interface with Client / Server programming languages, most commonly Visual Basic.
