Alpha Innovations specializes in providing data, network management, hosted services, and other telecommunications services to customers in West Virginia. Alpha offers small, medium and large-scale telecommunication services for businesses and enterprises in our area.

Job Summary :

The OSP Technician is responsible for performing general outside plant engineering for OSP cables to include copper and fiber optic network projects utilizing Alpha’s Construction Manual and design / drafting software. The OSP Technician determines cable routes, obtains easements, process permits, designs network plant extensions, provides BOM, system re-routes and capacity upgrades, assists with cable locates, coordinates contractors and provides engineering support to construction and operations teams. Responsibility includes supervision of construction crews and construction progress reporting, project budgets, and project planning. Coordinates permit applications with State, utility, and local government permitting agencies.

Qualifications :

a. Education : AS degree in a relevant engineering or technology field is desired. Other candidates with a strong technical background and substantial industry or military experience will be considered.

b. Hold a valid government issued driver’s license.

c. Experience Level : i. 5 or more years of experience in outside plant engineering disciplines to include copper, or fiber optic design

d. Special Requirements : i. Project management experience ii. Able to interpret technical drawings with knowledge of fiber optic technology

e. Skill Requirements : Detail oriented and strong organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously Knowledge of :

a. Outside plant networks (copper, fiber, ancillary optics)

b. Microsoft Excel, Visio, Vetro, or other network mapping and design tools.
