Job Description:
  • The Project Engineer I is responsible for managing and executing capital and process improvement projects, including design, procurement, construction management, installation, and qualification.
  • This role ensures projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • The position collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional teams to improve productivity, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in project management, process design, manufacturing, and contractor supervision.
  • Strong understanding of plant operations and construction practices.
  • Experience developing and executing complex engineering projects.
  • Experience creating technical documentation such as Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with 2D or 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
Experience:
  • Experience managing engineering projects within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment.
  • Experience developing cost estimates and conceptual designs for new products or line extensions.
  • Experience supporting safety initiatives and environmental impact reduction efforts.
  • Experience working in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience with site utilities such as chillers, boilers, and air compressors preferred.
  • Experience supporting sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives preferred.
  • Experience reading and modifying P&IDs preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform all aspects of project engineering including design, procurement, construction management, installation, and qualification.
  • Plan budgets, develop complex schedules, and coordinate resources to meet project objectives.
  • Drive engineering performance metrics and monitor project adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Serve as site liaison for projects executed by external engineering resources.
  • Champion equipment management programs, including optimization, maintenance, retirement, and startup management.
  • Develop cost estimates and conceptual designs for new products and packaging operations.
  • Establish standards for equipment, systems, and engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment performance.
  • Partner with department managers to improve productivity through process or equipment enhancements.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture with a goal of zero incidents.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to improve technical team effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, SOPs, GMP, and regulatory standards.
  • Support environmental impact reduction initiatives and utility monitoring.
  • Maintain consistent communication across all organizational levels.
Should Have:
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.
  • Professional Engineer certification preferred.

Qualification And Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional certifications preferred.
