Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services

Work Hours/Days: Full-Time or Part-Time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations will be aligned with FTE assignment in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines.

Wage: $65-$85/per hour. Compensation will be prorated based on FTE assignment.

Benefits: Benefit eligibility is based on FTE status. Employees working 30 hours or greater per week are eligible for full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid leave. Employees working less than 30 hours per week will get paid sick leave.

Job Function

The Mental Health Provider - IEP Support advances inclusive, data‑driven student services by partnering with school leaders, special education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to deliver high‑quality, compliant mental health supports to qualifying students. This role strengthens MTSS/RTI frameworks, trauma‑informed practices, and SEL programming while ensuring culturally responsive mental health assessment, intervention, and documentation within special education systems. The Mental Health Provider delivers counseling, behavioral intervention, and social‑emotional skill development aligned to IEP goals, supporting the emotional, behavioral, and functional needs of students with disabilities. Through collaborative team facilitation, targeted professional learning, and inclusion‑focused problem‑solving, this role builds capacity in schools and empowers educators and families to implement effective mental health, behavioral, and SEL supports, including for students served through 504, Gifted, and Multi‑Lingual Learner pathways. The Mental Health Provider is a key member of multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams, with some remote counseling and consultation.

Core Responsibilities

Direct Student Services

• Deliver counseling and social-emotional instruction per IEP goals.
• Implement evidence-based interventions for emotional regulation, coping, and behavior.
• Provide crisis stabilization and short-term support as appropriate.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Conduct observations and collect data related to IEP goals.
• Contribute to evaluations within scope of practice.
• Document services, progress, and recommendations.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on goals and services.
• Consult with teachers, administrators, and families on student needs.
• Support implementation of behavior plans and classroom strategies.

Family Engagement

• Communicate regularly with families regarding progress and strategies.
• Provide resources and guidance to support home-school consistency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field.
• State licensure or certification appropriate to role (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).
• Experience with school-aged children and special education processes.
• Strong skills in crisis response, collaboration, and documentation.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• School-based environment with movement between classrooms and offices.
• Requires sitting for counseling sessions and active engagement with students.
• Occasional participation in crisis response.

Optional Remote/Tele-Support

• Virtual counseling sessions when appropriate and permitted.
• Remote participation in IEP meetings.
• Digital progress monitoring and communication.
