Position Summary

The Director of Engineering will lead a team of 6 engineers and external contract resources responsible for the timely development of new functionality, platform security, and engineering practices. We need a leader with a customer-centric mindset who operates with vision and integrity. You will align engineering activities with company objectives, provide expert guidance to other departments, and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:
Oversee recruiting, assessing, hiring, and management of a small team of software engineers and external complementary resources with a focus on priorities advancing overall product and business strategy.

Engineering Excellence:
Implement best practice engineering methods and ensure timely project completion.

Security & DevOps:
Assure platform security through the implementation of appropriate practices and tools, while overseeing modern DevOps and resource management.

Technical Strategy:
Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and senior management to support established organizational objectives.

Operational Efficiency:
Manage departmental expenses to established budget while maintaining optimal balance between cost, speed and quality of development balancing customer demands, technical debt, and company strategic initiatives.

AI-opportunistic:
Considers appropriate AI opportunities for development, product innovation, and expanded offerings keeping up to date with latest innovations and providing organizational leadership in this area.

Technical Stack Requirements

The successful candidate must have 10 years' overall experience in software development with specific expertise in the following areas:

Cloud Infrastructure (AWS):
Proven experience managing and scaling B2B SaaS applications within the AWS ecosystem.

Backend & Data:
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for robust, scalable data management.

Frontend & Mobile:
Experience overseeing web development in React and mobile applications built with Flutter.

DevOps Focus:
Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code to ensure platform stability and rapid deployment.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience:
7+ years of experience in management with 10 years' overall experience in software development.

Education:
Advanced Degree Preferred
