Project Manager – Manufacturing & Sustainable Packaging | Downers Grove, IL

Silgan Closures, a global leader in sustainable metal and plastic packaging, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Corporate Office in Downers Grove, IL. This is a high‑impact role supporting product launches, manufacturing trials, customer qualifications, and cross‑functional engineering initiatives across our global network.

What you will do:

As the Project Manager you will:

• Create, manage and communicate project timelines, milestones and deliverables
• Lead cross-functional project teams and hold stakeholders accountable
• Serve as the primary customer interface, ensuring alignment and satisfaction
• Coordinate and support plant, material and tooling trials at customer and Silgan facilities
• Partner with Manufacturing, R&D, QA, Technical Serves and Commercialization teams
• Analyze plant capabilities and support operational readiness for new products
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans and resolve issues quickly
• Compile, track and report project data and performance metrics
• Lead capital projects from approval through deployment
• Ensure projects meet customers, technical and operational requirements

What you'll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
• Project Management Certification (PMP) required
• Minimum of 5+ years of managing full-cycle projects in consumer products
• Ability to travel 4-10 days per month with occasional weekends
• Experience in plastic or metal packaging, strongly preferred
• Background working directly with manufacturing operations
• Hands-on experience with plant, material and tooling qualification trials
• Proven success leading projects impacting production processes and plant performance
• Experience with DFSS, DOE and statistical analysis tools
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to translate customer needs into actionable project plans
