Position Overview

We are looking for a Ruby Backend Software Engineer with 2-3 years of experience to build scalable production applications, manage large data sets, and oversee the complete development lifecycle. Collaboration with our product managers will be key to enhancing our sophisticated product. You will be working with technologies such as Angular, Ruby, and AWS.

This is a fantastic chance for a proactive, hands-on Software Engineer eager to tackle new and exciting technical projects!

What You'll Do :

Write clean, maintainable, and extendable code following software engineering principles.

Design and maintain APIs efficiently.

Develop and implement new full-stack features to enhance our product offerings.

Support and improve existing systems proactively.

Debug and optimize code for improved performance.

Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation and tests.

Build tools to enhance operational efficiency.

Enhance the frontend experience utilizing Angular.

Design and maintain robust backend architecture.

Plan long-term product maintenance and evolution.

Conduct code reviews to uphold quality standards.

Work closely with the product team to fulfill the roadmap.

What You'll Bring to Zelis :

2-3 years of experience in backend development using Ruby.

Strong grasp of system design, data structures, and algorithms.

Experience in building distributed, high-volume services in Ruby.

Familiarity with development best practices (agile methodologies, code reviews, testing frameworks).

Expertise in backend architecture design.

Experience or understanding of frontend development, especially Angular, to effectively collaborate on full-stack features.

Background in working with AWS.

Knowledge of API architecture development and improvement.

Solid understanding of relational databases like PostgreSQL.

Familiarity with Apache Solr or a willingness to learn.

Experience with queueing systems such as RabbitMQ or a willingness to learn.

Experience contributing to production products with a focus on release schedules.

Understanding of development best practices including agile methodologies and testing frameworks.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We support a hybrid and remote-friendly culture, with work locations tailored to the needs of each position as determined by our Leadership team.

Base Salary Range

$95,000.00 - $127,000.00

Our base salary range is designed to guarantee competitive offers based on individual factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and relevant skills. This base pay is one aspect of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonuses, commissions, or other incentives based on your role.
