Senior Electrical Engineer, Power | San Francisco, CA...

Planet is hiring a senior electrical engineer to design and qualify power subsystems for its satellite fleet. You’ll work on MPPTs, high-voltage converters, propulsion PPUs, and power regulation / distribution for nano and small satellites. The role includes schematic design, PCB layout oversight, PCBA bring-up, automated test development, and on-orbit anomaly support. This hybrid position requires three days per week in the San Francisco HQ.

Responsibilities

• Design high-voltage power subsystems and support manufacturing documentation
• Lead PCBA validation, EMI / EMC and thermal qualification, and launch-load readiness
• Develop automated test procedures with manufacturing teams
• Troubleshoot on-orbit spacecraft issues

Requirements

500 V switching converters, SiC / GaN components, and mixed-signal design

Bonus Skills

Custom magnetics, MPPTs / solar arrays, electric propulsion, and aerospace / LEO experience.
