The Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement and organization of materials throughout the warehouse and other locations of the facility, primarily by utilizing warehousing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks, but also by hand as necessary. Additionally, the role is also responsible for certain general housekeeping and layout/reorganization tasks and supports numerous special projects on an as-needed basis. While performing the responsibilities of the Material Handler, the employee will be walking within the warehouse vicinity. More than 75% of their job duties will require the ability to: walk long distances, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The noise level is usually low, as consistent with a warehouse environment. At times, some light lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs. As such, safe lifting techniques should be used, and a request for assistance should be made to a co-worker.
