Part-Time Café Line Cook who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for the preparation of food and beverages on a daily basis while maintaining cleanliness and other food safety standards. Executes all aspects of the role while following local, state, and federal guidelines for food preparation and safety.
Qualifications EDUCATIONRequired: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Associates Degree.
EXPERIENCERequired: One (1) year of cooking experience in a Food Service Operation.
Preferred: Three (3) years or more of cooking experience in a Food Service Operation.
CERTIFICATIONSRequired: Current Food Handler Certificate
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies in preparation for service.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in compliance with local and state health code regulations, including temperature, taste, and smell.
- Perform various tasks simultaneously, including preparing a variety of menu items with varying cook times and preparation requirements.
- Prep station before and after service.
- Observe and promote continual improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Ensure open communication between front and back of house to maintain quality and timely service.
- Maintain a high standard of sterilization and cleaning procedures.
- Observe, identify, and report issues that would affect service in a timely and respectful manner to appropriate staff and management to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Offer outstanding customer service to our students, faculty and staff, by preparing food or drinks, and regular cleaning.
- Interact with all levels of departmental personnel, students, vendor, community, and management in a professional and respectful manner.
- Completes cross-training in essential café functions to support operational continuity, maintain consistent service standards, and assist in multiple service areas as needed.
- Perform other work-related duties as needed.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade
3 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver supplies as needed.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events as necessary or scheduled.) Ability to use Hot surfaces, sharp objects, commercial equipment.
