Support the development of new algorithms, planning and operational methodologies, software solutions, and tools to enable grid modernization. Perform advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis of electric distribution systems to support grid modernization initiatives with minimal supervision. Contribute to the development of innovative planning and operational methodologies, algorithms, and software tools to identify, integrate, and deploy least-cost solutions. Integrate distributed energy resources into planning and operations. Assess distribution impacts from electric vehicles and other electrification technologies. Perform wide-area distribution studies to support hosting capacity, electrification, and decarbonization goals. Conduct technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team. Conduct independent research, with support from technical leads. Document research results in technical reports and presentations. Engage in supervised interaction with members and industry.
5% domestic travel required.
Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and 5 years of experience in the job offered or an electrical engineering-related occupation.
Experience or education must include:
Power distribution modeling, simulation, and analysis using industry software: OpenDSS, CYME, Synergi, and Windmill and their Python scripting interfaces
Python scripting, data analytics, GUI development, and visualization using Pandas, Numpy, Dash, Plotly, Prophet, Streamlit, Tkinter, NetworkX, and py-dss-interface
Distribution planning and operations
Distribution planning load forecasting
Solar photovoltaics (PV), electric vehicle (EV) and other distributed energy resource (DER) modeling
DER hosting capacity analysis and distribution impact analysis methods
The salary range for this position is $90,979 USD to $134,550 USD annually.
This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
