What You'll Be Doing :

  • Conduct ratemaking analyses, including statewide indications, experience rating analysis, retrospective rating analysis, and relativity analysis on rebate programs
  • Liaise with actuarial consultants on ratemaking analysis to ensure work is peer-reviewed
  • Provide recommendations, reports, summaries, and other narratives for senior leadership, board members, and other stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations to senior leadership, board members, and other stakeholders
  • Work with IT staff to ensure system updates are implemented accurately and efficiently
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on actuarial topics related to workers compensation

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • ACAS (Associate of Casualty Actuarial Society) is required, FCAS is preferred
  • ASA or FSA with emphasis on General Insurance may be acceptable with relevant actuarial experience in workers compensation
  • 3 years of experience in ratemaking, ideally with an emphasis on workers compensation
  • 2 years of managerial experience is preferred
  • Major Worker Characteristics :

    Knowledge of : Agency & Division policies & standard operating procedures

  • ; math & statistics; actuarial principles & practices; economic & public-policy impacts & implications; industry cost utilization & products pertaining to workers' compensation insurance; Federal, State & agency laws, rules & regulations governing workers' compensation insurance rates & reserves; supervisory principles & techniques; employee training & development; business; labor relations
  • Skill in : personal computer; software (e.g. Microsoft Office products, data querying languages, data science languages); effective communications (e.g. verbally, in writing).

    Ability to : function in fiduciary capacity (i.e. pursuant to OAC 123 : 1-5-01 Unclassified service)

  • ; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; understand & work with abstract variables & fields of study; understand technical literature of concrete nature; develop & generate written communications, letters, work papers & reports; develop internal procedures; gather, collate & classify information about data, people & things; use statistical analysis; respond to complaints & inquiries from industry representatives, Board members & government officials; write rules & regulations.
