Job Summary:

Job Summary:
The Tennessee DeafBlind Project (TNDB) DeafBlind Educational Consultant will: provide technical assistance in the form of consultation and coaching to families and service providers of children and youth who are DeafBlind or who are at risk for DeafBlindness between the ages of birth to 22; organize and respond to requests for technical assistance; develop and present information about dual sensory loss at training sessions, conferences, and events. The individual in this position will report to the Project Coordinator of the TNDB Project and implement the activities as described in the OSEP awarded grant.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical assistance and support to families, youth, educators and service providers who work with children and youth who are DeafBlind.

Assist the project coordinator in planning, implementing and evaluating the technical assistance, training and dissemination activities of the project, as well as with annual performance reporting.

Provide agency collaboration at state, regional, and national level to increase organizational abilities to implement evidence-based practices relevant to youth under the age of 22 years who are DeafBlind.

Serve as lead school consultation provider- including onsite and distance visits with school teams, provide follow-up information about best-practice teaching strategies, create learning materials needed for student, perform check-ins with school team members, and collect data on progress toward consultation outcomes.

Develop and present information on topics related to DeafBlindness at trainings, workshops, and conferences.

Assist team with other project initiatives as needed such as organizing and carrying out family events and promoting awareness to increase student identification and registration.

Carry out DeafBlind Grant Activities

Interact with families and family organizations

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in special education, education or related discipline.

Minimum of four years' experience working with deafblind students.

Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired/Blind or Certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

Experience in developing and presenting at trainings and workshops.

Evidence of strong collaborative skills in working successfully with professionals, paraprofessionals, families, local schools, and staff at other agencies.
