Position : Maintenance Technician (Tier 3) Location : St. Charles, IL Shift Schedule : 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. | Monday-Friday
Summary :
The Tier 3 Maintenance Technician is a senior-level maintenance professional responsible for advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of complex manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role serves as a technical expert, supports continuous improvement, leads root cause analysis, and ensures optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems
Mentor and support lower-tier maintenance technicians through training and technical guidance
Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Complete preventive and predictive maintenance tasks accurately and on schedule
Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
Install, repair, and upgrade machinery and equipment as part of capital projects or system improvements
Assist with developing and updating maintenance SOPs and equipment documentation
Follow OSHA requirements, safety standards, and company policies at all times
Support facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, boilers, and water treatment
Collaborate with engineering, production teams, and external vendors on repairs and upgrades
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electromechanics, or related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, automation systems, and sensors
Advanced troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Ability to lead by example, prioritize tasks, and work independently
Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Forklift and aerial lift certification required or ability to obtain
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Strong communication skills and ability to train and document work clearly
Physical Demands :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 60 lbs occasionally
Clear vision at close and far distances, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish colors
Ability to work in physically active and hands-on maintenance environments
Work Conditions :
Required PPE may include safety glasses, ear protection, hairnets, hard hats, and face coverings
