POSITION INFORMATION
As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require the ability to coordinate all aspects of construction management, administration, and inspection services as necessary. DGL is looking for a well-rounded Senior Construction Engineer to enhance the qualifications of our Construction Management Department.
- Reports to Director of Technical Services
- Full-time, Non-Exempt
- 4-8 years of previous experience in construction engineering
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following :
Work under supervision of a Project Manager or Senior-level Team MembersServe as Resident Engineer and / or Project Inspector on construction projectsCommunicate with Department leaders for understanding of project scopeOversee daily inspection of work performed by the contractorRecord daily construction activities, quantities, contractor’s equipment and on-site personnelScheduling and facilitating construction progress meetingsReview / approve contractor’s shop drawing submittalsMonitor overall project budget and review / approve contractor’s pay requests prior to submitting to owner for paymentReview / approve contractor’s change ordersSchedule and review material testing and make sure results are per project requirements and specificationsCoordinate with other engineers and surveyors on project requirementsProvide survey support as necessaryProvide civil engineering design and drafting support (Bridge / Site / Roadway / Traffic) as necessaryObtain and maintain safety certifications and client pre-qualifications (ODOT / OTIC)SKILL SET
Experience with applicable computer software (Microsoft Office, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Primavera P6 Scheduling, AASHTOWare, GoFormz, etc.)Obtain and maintain ODOT / OTIC construction related pre-qualifications based on agency requirements (Construction Engineer Level 1, Construction Engineer Level 2, Project Inspector, Project Structure Inspector, Coatings Inspector, Traffic & Lighting Inspector)Strong written and verbal communication skillsProven success in delivering high quality project submittalsMust be well organizedProfessional demeanorAbility to communicate effectively with all types of peopleValid Driver’s License required with a favorable driver’s recordEDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering Technology from ABET Accredited InstitutionODOT / OTIC construction pre-qualifications are requiredJOB TYPE
