Strong understanding of machining principles, feeds / speeds, and material properties. Proven ability to work independently, maintain quality, and meet production goals.

Pay : Up to $32 / hr. based on experience
Location : Grand Rapids, MI
Job Summary :
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their precision manufacturing team on 2nd shift. This role involves setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual machines to produce high-tolerance components used in custom automation and test systems.
Responsibilities :
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and CAD data to machine parts to exact specifications.
- Calculate and adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions to optimize machining performance.
- Import CAD models and use CAM software to program CNC machining centers for production and one-off components.
- Inspect finished parts to verify conformance to print tolerances and quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with senior machinists to troubleshoot machining challenges and improve processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level machinists in developing their machining skills.
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines and maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
