Accountant

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, applies theories, principles and practices of accounting to record financial information and prepare financial reports.  Duties include compiling and classifying business and financial transactions, and preparing journal entries to accounts in accordance with GAAP and the Company’s accounting policy.  Uses standard spreadsheet and database software.  May direct and coordinate activities of other accountants and clerical workers in a lead capacity.

Essential Duties

• Balance / reconcile statements of major vendors including John Deere
• Maintain and balance the general ledger
• Reconcile various accounts and prepare supporting schedules
• Calculate and post monthly closing and reversing entries
• Calculate and post accruals and reconcile reserve accounts
• Balance intercompany accounts
• Research and resolve account discrepancies
• Administer sales tax policies in accordance with state law
• Prepare and submit all sales tax reports
• Prepare and submit real and personal property tax reports
• Provide information and support to operating departments
• Provide input for continuous process improvements
• Other duties as assigned
