About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with strong Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) experience to join the surgical team at a nationally recognized Top 50 Heart Hospital and Level I Trauma Center. As part of Virginia’s premier heart program, you will support advanced cardiovascular cases in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field for a wide variety of cases such as (but not limited to): CABG (including robotic LIMA), valve surgeries (AVR, mitral, tricuspid, robotic-assisted/mini-mitral), TAVR, major aortic cases (aneurysms, dissections, EVAR), mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, IABP), transplants (heart and lung), electrophysiology/device work (pacemakers, lead extraction), and advanced thoracic & vascular (open and endovascular).

• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and ensure proper instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning.

• Demonstrate expert knowledge of CVOR instrumentation and sterile technique in high-acuity cases.

• Collaborate with surgeons, RNs, anesthesiologists, and perfusionists to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

• Support room turnover, equipment readiness, and compliance with infection control protocols.

• Assist in hybrid OR procedures and robotic-assisted cardiac cases as required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or NCCT)

• Previous CVOR / cardiac surgical experience required.

• Ability to perform under pressure in a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital environment.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, willingness to learn
